Coles profits soar while Tassie struggles

Coles continue to see their sales go up while everyday shoppers struggle to fill their trolley. In regional areas like Tassie, there’s not a lot of competition. So people don’t really have a choice - they’ve got to shop at Woolies or Coles. We know Aldi’s not coming to Tassie anytime soon.

Coles recently purchased 20 new liquor stores in Tassie. They say this means 30% of Tasmanians will be within a five minute drive of a Coles liquor store. That’s on top of their 18 supermarkets across the state. This is Coles tightening their grip on the market in Tassie and creating less room for competition. Ultimately Tasmanians are the ones missing out on cheaper prices.
