Electoral reform is wolf in sheep’s clothing

"When it comes to electoral reform, Labor and the Liberals will always look out for themselves.

"They’ve left loopholes that’ll benefit major parties and hurt independents. Caps on individual candidate campaigns mean nothing when they don’t apply to the parties. Caps on donations don’t address money funnelled to parties through fundraiser dinners and membership fees.

"This bill is a life raft the major parties are desperately clinging to. Independents are doing a better job of representing their patch because they don’t have to toe a party line.

"I’m the only Senator who is solely here to deliver for Tasmania and Tassie’s better off for that. Making it harder for independents to get elected will hurt the people we’re supposed to be looking out for.

"Make no mistake; this bill is a wolf in sheep’s clothing."
